Milan, January 13, 2023 – Giuliani, a pharmaceutical company recognized for its research in the gastroenterology, hair care, and dermatology fields and owned by the Giuliani family, announces that it has finalized the acquisition of the Biogena dermatological product portfolio from Valetudo, a company based in Bergamo and founded in 1982. Over the past forty years, Valetudo has established itself nationally and internationally thanks to a broad range of cosmetic and pharmaceutical lines supported by constant scientific and technological advancement.

Biogena is Valetudo’s line dedicated to medical information and pharmacy sales, offering a wide range of therapeutic skin products, hair treatments, cleansers, deodorants, and sun care products. Its leading brands — including Osmin, Mellis, Inosit, Laris, and Bioliftan — compete across various dermatology sectors with targeted products designed both to protect the physiological well-being of the skin and to treat the most common skin disorders.

“The acquisition of the Biogena line is part of Giuliani’s growth strategy, which is based both on the organic expansion of our leading brands and on the acquisition of strategic external assets that strengthen the Group’s presence and relevance among pharmacists, the medical community, and consumers,” commented Gaetano Colabucci, General Manager of Giuliani. “With this same vision in mind, less than two years ago we acquired Nathura, a company operating in the nutraceutical sector.”

Through a multi-year supply agreement, Valetudo will continue collaborating with Giuliani by manufacturing the Biogena line according to the excellent and well-established quality standards that have led to its success over the years. It is no coincidence that Giuliani chose Biogena to strengthen its dermatology division.

“The integration of Biogena’s scientific expertise with the advanced research carried out by Giuliani’s Innovation department will lead to even deeper knowledge of the skin barrier in dermatology, enabling the development of increasingly modern and effective products for various skin disorders and different areas of the body,” added Fabio Rinaldi, Head of Innovation and Head of Medical Scientific Information at Giuliani.

Biogena, which complements Giuliani’s existing Skin Care business, will enable the Company to firmly establish itself as a leading player in pharmaceutical dermatology.

In the transaction, Giuliani was supported by PwC as M&A and legal advisor.
